As per our discussion during lecture today, the deadline for MP2 has been extended until 11pm this Sunday, April 29th.
The final exam will cover Chapters 1-9 with an emphasis on material covered since the midterm. The date for the final exam is Monday, May 7 from 10:30am-12:30pm The full exam schedule for Spring 2007 is here.
Please click here to submit your online course evaluation. As usual, all responses are completely anonymous. Unlike in-class evaluations, however, I have no way of enforcing a large turnout to get sufficient feedback. Instead, I only know how many students have responded. As such, I'm incentivizing your participation. Specifically, if 90% of the class provides feedback by the end of the evaluation period (Tues, May 1st at midnight) then I'll curve everyone's course grade up a full percentage point.
The final two homeworks covering Chapters 8 and 9 have been assigned. They are due at 11pm on Weds, April 25th and Weds, May 2nd (respectively). I am assigning the Chapter 9 homework early to provide some workload flexibility for you at the end of this busy term. Both assignments are available online here.
Homework #5 has been assigned. It covers only Chapter 7 on Deadlock and is avabilable online here.
Machine Problem #2 has been assigned. It is a buddy-system memory allocator, which is discussed in Section 9.8 of the textbook on pages 353-355. This programming project will be due on Friday, April 27th at 11pm. The MP2 handout and source code are available here.
This is a stacked course consisting of two sections that meet concurrently: CPSC 410 is the undergraduate section intended for computer science majors, and CPSC 611 is the graduate section intended for graduate students outside of computer science. Graduate students within computer science or computer engineering should consider taking the core Operating Systems course CPSC 613 instead. Please note, however, that 613 will not be offered until Autumn 2007.
