Announcement (Fri, 11 July 2008): Homeworks #8 and #9
WileyPlus homeworks #8 and #9 have been assigned. These homeworks cover Chapter 8 (Main Memory) and Chapter 9 (Virtual Memory) of the textbook. They are due at 11pm on Friday, 18 July 2008 and Wednesday, 23 July 2008, respectively. Both homeworks are available online

Course Catalog Description
Hardware/software evolution leading to contemporary operating systems; basic operating systems concepts; methods of operating systems design and construction; algorithms for CPU scheduling, memory management, and general resource allocation; process coordination and management; case studies of several operating systems.
This is a stacked course consisting of two sections which meet concurrently. CPSC 410 is the undergraduate section intended for computer science majors. CPSC 611 is a graduate section intended only for graduate students outside of computer science. Please note that graduate students in Computer Science or Computer Engineering cannot get credit for CPSC 611; such students should enroll for CPSC 613, if available.

Operating Systems Concepts, 7th Edition, by Silberschatz, Galvin, and Gagne, 2005.
The textbook should be available at the
bookstore in the
Memorial Student Center (MSC).
